Anointing And Maturity
When it comes to Ministry, MATURITY is as important as the ANOINTING. Anointing gives the minister power but MATURITY provides the minister with WISDOM
What many ministers fail to realize is that, no matter how anointed you are, bad character or immaturity can cause the anointing to stink.
“Dead flies cause the oil of the perfumer to send forth an evil odor; [so] doth a little folly outweigh wisdom and honor”.- Ecclesiastes 10:1 (ASV)
I have seen many great ministers come crashing down because of immaturity. The price you pay for immaturity can even come at the cost of your own life.
Being anointed is certainly not all there is to ministry. If you want to do well and leave a lasting legacy, seek maturity and wisdom.
Not every battle must be fought, not every question needs a response, not every provocation needs a reaction, and not every false accusation needs an explanation.
Maturity will teach you to be silent when even the circumstance may suggest a response.
Jesus knew when to respond and when to keep silent. He knew when to walk away and even how to answer his critics. Wisdom demands that you not only seek anointing but also seek Maturity.
Maturity will save you from needless and avoidable embarrassment. Be humble enough to know that being old/anointed is never equivalent to being mature. God giving you the anointing also calls for maturity in the fulfillment of your assignment.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. –James 1:5 (New Living Translation).
