PRAYER: The Fuel For The Clergy Man

The spirit of prayerlessness is one that every minister of the Gospel has to fight against and win. Prayerlessness is deadly and disastrous to the minister of God.

The Apostles of Jesus once had the struggle in the garden of Gethsemane. When Jesus needed them most, they could not even pray with him for an hour!!! They were overtaken by sleep.

Every clergyman and his assignment is fueled by prayer. Jesus demonstrated that severally in scripture.

The Apostles had become so weak in prayer, that praying for an hour was a problem. Prayer stamina has to be developed over time. Your prayer life as a minister of God cannot grow on its own if you don’t consciously and consistently build your prayer life.

If your prayer life is weak, I pray that you will receive quickening in your spirit to revive your prayer life. This will happen but it must begin with the strong will to change the pattern. I believe strongly that the early Apostles had the impact they had, because of prayers. The word of God tells us that the Apostles gave themselves to prayer and fasting. This is what they spend most of their time doing. Fasting cannot be absent in your life if you want to achieve maximum impact in ministry.

Just as a vehicle without fuel cannot move, the clergy man without prayer will be motionless spiritually. You cannot make meaningful advancement.

Prayer and fasting is what gives life to the message that you preach. Otherwise, your message would be boring, lacking inspiration with little or no impact. The word of God must be preached with fire!! That fire is only produced by prayer and fasting.

Get Inspired by the prayer life of Jesus

Severally Jesus spent his time praying all night. Every clergyman should be inspired by this. If Jesus the Son of God had to spend all night praying, then it must have been very important for his ministry and assignment.

Don’t give room for sluggishness. Rise, and march on in the spirit of fasting and prayers.
