The Wise Builder
When I carefully consider the book of Acts of The Apostles, I come to the conclusion that indeed a servant is not greater than his master but a good servant can be as good as his master. I could see that the world has not changed much even in this era because the human sinful nature is the common denominator. Seeing our beloved Paul’s fearless defense before the Sanhedrin, Governor Felix, and in Rome before King Agrippa for me is the height of Christian responsibility and the Apostolic.
Apostle Paul replays almost to perfection what Jesus experienced as those who sat in judgment consistently attested “This man doeth nothing worthy of death or bonds”, Sound familiar? It is heartbreaking in our day and time to find many professors of the faith trying to make the message, so-called “acceptable” to this generation by twisting it, toning it down, and completely avoiding the subjects of sin, repentance, and judgment to come and hell.
Even though Paul’s life was unjustly at stake, he did not try to seek favors or sugarcoat the message when he met Governor Felix. Scripture testifies that “Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee”. Felix expected Paul to pay a bribe for his release but that never happened. No compromises; the mark of Christian character.
Paul saw Him(Jesus) and knew Him for who He truly is and therefore there was no price too great to pay to preach the Gospel to all. No item, position, or authority in time can outweigh the gospel when both are placed on the scales of eternal relevance. Why are we busy investing in that which will eventually be destroyed anyway?
The wise builder finds his house on the rock, that rock is Jesus who abides forever, but the fool builds on the sinking sand of time; the philosophies, traditions, ideologies, and wisdom of men.
He is not a good servant who cannot give his life for the sake of his master, and we in this generation have the apostles to imitate in word and deed. For where your treasure is there also will your heart be.
